Reawaken your body’s wisdom

Somatic Experiencing Therapy for Body, Mind, & Emotions.

“Some things must be dealt with at the roots. Trauma is one of these things.”

-Peter Levine

Why Trauma-Informed Therapy?

You’ve worked hard and thought a lot about the changes you’ve wanted to make, but it’s hard to break the patterns. You’ve tried talking about it in past therapy, but you still feel stuck. You may have strong emotional reactions or not feel anything at all, but don’t know how to feel differently. Working with a focus and understanding of the natural survival responses in your nervous system establishes a foundation where meaningful change can take place. I understand, and I’m here to help.

How can I help you?

Trauma

Trauma is defined by the person’s experience and not the event, itself. Whether it’s childhood trauma or car accident, trauma resolution is possible.

Anxiety & Depression

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and anxious, Somatic Experiencing can help you move out of your threat response pattern and gain adaptive coping skills.

Transition & Loss

Even joyful transitions can trigger feelings of grief-sadness, guilt, anger, etc. No matter where you are in your grief journey, healing is possible.

Somatic Experiencing

People are naturally wired with an automatic defense system (the fight, flight, freeze response) when triggered, bringing on feelings of distress and acute stress. Even when the event is over or the threat is gone, the unspent survival energy of trauma can be stored in the nervous system, causing physically distressing symptoms and difficulty to be in the ‘here and now’.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) can help to restore capacity to manage and release the distressful symptoms that hijack the nervous system, feel more present, increase awareness of opportunities, and gain agency to make clear decisions. You’re not required to know where your wounds originated, as this ‘bottom-up’ approach helps to tap into the unspoken voice of the body and nervous system. So whether is an acute traumatic event, or childhood neglect or abandonment, SE can help a person to regulate their body and emotions, paving a way to whole health and healing.

The Grief Space

This is an 8 week psychoeducational program designed for adults who are wanting more guidance and support in their grief journey. In this space we recognize the differences of our grief, while acknowledging the common thread that brings and heals us together.

We grieve because we love.

Grief is the other side of love. It’s not something to get over. It’s not even something to move forward from. Collectively, the the spaces where we grieve have drastically changed, but our fundamental emotional and spiritual needs endure. The purpose of this group is to re-orient to the human side of grief, become acquainted with ancient wisdom and ritual, and start reconnecting to your Grief’s wisdom in a supportive community.

Grief keeps the heart flexible, fluid, and open to others.

-Francis Weller
